Maharashtra hike VAT rate on cigarettes by 5% to 25%
ITC: After Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra Government hike VAT rate on cigarettes by 5% to 25%; Maharashtra contributes 10% to ITC’s overall sales volume – sentimentally negative for ITC as other drought prone states might increase the VAT on cigarettes and tobacco products.

KPTL gains after receiving new orders of over Rs781 cr
Shares of Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd (KPTL) rose over 6%, touching to Rs269.7, after the company said it has secured new orders of Rs781 crore. The company has secured orders approximately of Rs594 crore for transmission line projects in international geographies namely Malawi and Kuwait, Kalpataru Power Transmission said. It also secured a pipeline project of approximately Rs187 crore from the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation ( ONGC).
Diesel price hikes by 50 paise per litre
Diesel price was on Wednesday hiked by 50 paise per litre but there will be no change in petrol rates. Indian Oil Corporation ( IOCL) said the price of petrol was left unchanged. After the latest increase, diesel would now cost Rs 44.95 a litre in Delhi, up from Rs44.45. The current level of international prices and the rupee-dollar exchange rate warrant a price increase, which is being passed on to consumers with this price revision, IOCL said in a statement.
Suven Life Sciences secures three product patents
Suven Life Sciences has announced that the company has secured grant of one (1) product patent from New Zealand, one (1) product patent from Singapore and one (1) product patent from USA corresponding to the New Chemical Entities ( NCEs) for the treatment of disorders associated with Neurodegenerative diseases and these Patents are valid through 2032.
BOB revises interest rates on term deposits
Bank of Baroda has decided to revise the rates of interest payable on all term deposits applicable to the renewal of existing deposits and fresh deposits, with effect from October 05, 2015.
Eicher Motors records total sales at 44491 units
Eicher Motors announced sales volumes of the Company for the month of September 2015. Total sales for September 2015 rose 59% to 44491 units compared to 28,020 units in September 2014.
This included 40280 units of models with engine capacity upto 350 cc and 4211 units of models with engine capacity exceeding 350 cc. Exports for September 2015 stood at 750 units.
